Stipes On Walls All Over The Place, Mmmmm

Good morning,

I am researching paint for my 3 kids rooms in the Modern Organic project and definitely will be adding stripes in at least one of the rooms.

Adding stripes to a room can either make the room feel taller as in vertical stripes or longer and wider as in horizontal stripes. I'm personally drawn to horizontal stripes, which could be that I'm bias since they are through out the entire main living areas of my house thanks to David Bromstad and Color Splash. In the home makeover that we won they added grey and white stripes in our living room, family room and our dining room. They really do make our small house feel so much longer and we absolutely LOVE them!

Here are a couple of pictures of the stripes in our house.

Here are more pictures of homes with striped rooms to further inspire you.

These stripes aren't made to make you dizzy but rather to inspire and entice you. As you can see, you can't really go wrong with them and they can fit in to any interior. I find them to be very inspiring and I can't wait to include them in my project.

Which way do you prefer your stripes. vertical or horizontal?

Coool Teenage Boy's Room: Orange, White, Navy and Grey

Good morning,

In my Modern Organic project I have 3 kids rooms that I'm doing. One of those rooms is for a high school boy who needs a room that's as cool as he is.

I had 2 pieces of furniture to work with:

1- Pottery Barn bed/desk set in dark brown.

2- Modern orange sofa bed

The plan here is to incorporate some modern touches and give this teen room some edge. Here's the plan.

Ground the room with a nice grey paint.

Accent the room with touches of grey and white, navy blue, and orange.

Rug
Bedding

Modern Arc Lamp

Modern Light

End Tables

Pillows

Accent Chairs
These are just some of the basic pieces that are going in. It's a room fit for the cool kid on the block!

Designer Lighting Replica, Big Savings

Hello,

I have been on a hunt to find images of the Ochre Arctic Pear light in the polished nickel finish since it is famously photographed in the bronze color. In order to buy this hefty 35" light in the polished nickel (which by the ways costs $6,600 plus shipping and tax) there is about a 8-10 week waiting period. My thoughts on that are you'd better be damn sure you love that light and that it will work because that's a long time to wait.

Needless to say I needed reassurance for my client and for myself! While I searched I came across another pretty popular light due to its close resemblance to the Arctic Pear light I'm sure. I am referring to the Robert Abby Bling Collection Crystal Tear Drop Chandelier. Oh, and guess what? It's available in both bronze and polished nickel!!!

The good news is that it is under $1,000!!! The bad news is that it is only 20 1/2" in diameter.

So I continued my search, and guess what?

Bingo! I found it in a 35" diameter size just like be beloved Ochre Arctic Pear light in 90cm that we had our eyes on. Want to know the other good news? It is available in 2 weeks!

In case you need the further convincing of the greatness in this mega score, the total savings for my client here is $4,807! Now that's something I can be proud of.

Here it is in a kitchen.

Here it is in a dining room.

Here it is in a nook.

Here it is in a living room.

Here it is in a bathroom.

In case you need to see it in your own room, here you go!  http://www.shopcandelabra.com/

They have some other pretty amazing things on their site by the way~

Stores I love, Artefacto Miami

Good morning,

I always love when I get to find new stores and sources of inspiration, and here in Miami you can find them all over. Recently, while I was out my new client she took me to Artefacto Miami, which is her favorite store. It did not disappoint.

Each piece is made and imported from Brazil. There is a high end luxurious feel mixed with eclectic and organic elements. Just my style! This is the kind of store where no price is listed but rather inquired on piece by piece. It is also the kind of store where we might find one or two items to compliment our design scheme because too many will likely break the bank!

Take a look at some of their Miami designs. You will find that since we are booming down here in South Florida with sky rise condos, they can often be seen staged with very high end furnishings. It's part of the Miami "life style", just not my life style;).

As you can see through their own designs it is pure luxury and absolutely stunning.

Walking through this store is such a breath of fresh air....except for the stiffling prices but that's how it goes sometimes. Here is one of their show rooms.

If you yourself live in the area (they have stores in other major cities as well), make sure you stop in. You may find large floor mirrors for upwards of $5,000 and table lamps for just under $3,000, but you will also find a canvas of inspiration just waiting for you to sink your teeth in to. You could also visit their web site artefacto and get a little perspective from their US projects. "Sigh!"

For me I'll take the couple pieces that I can get, and will find the rest elsewhere. I love the inspiration, however and can't wait to translate this in to my client's home

New Project, Modern Organic Luxury

Good morning,

I have been extremely busy lately and sadly haven't been able to post. I am closing in on ordering furniture, cabinetry, window treatments, logo, and the wood feature wall in my modern office project which will take a load off my plate and will push that project forward. I'll show you progress pictures as soon as I have them.

I also started a new project, "Modern Organic Luxury" for a 7,000sf home which I am extremely excited about! It's challenging to juggle multiple projects at the same time, but it's also nice to have a mix of commercial and residential projects and I am very excited about both.

None the less, I wanted to give you a sneak peek of some of the pieces for the living room of the modern organic luxury project which will involve layers of lighting and textiles with modern unexpected touches to give us a truly show stopping first sight to this home. It is the first room you see when entering this true Spanish style home, and the home owners want it to pack a punch.

Ochre Arctic Pear Light, big and truly amazing. YUM!

Imperial trellis rug choice as shown in inspiration picture in a blueish grey.

Mirrors above the fireplace mantle.

Living room end table option #1.

Living room end table option #2

Creamy velvet sofa inspiration (to be reupholstered)
 Lamp option for console table.

Floor lamp option for club chair.

2 large floor mirrors leaning behind each end table by sofa.

2 club chairs to be reupholstered in something very vivid and very Ikat.

There is a teeny tiny glimpse at the first room in my new project. In these stages things can change, but as you can see it will be a very beautiful room.

More to come.
