Project Sneak Peek, Making A Small Dining Room Feel Grand

Good morning,

In my Beach Chic project there is a small dining room off the main entrance of the home. It's a bit tricky in this room because there is only one Northern window,  minimal lighting, and I worked with the client's existing furnishings which are pretty dark. Overall the room was a bit gloomy and needed to be lightened up.

To accomplish this we chose light colors for the walls,  a large chrome light fixture, neutral drapes and a series of  6 mirrors hang above the buffet reflecting the light back into the room. It doesn't matter if you have a large leaning floor mirror, a round mirror hung high on the wall, or a series of mirrors hung together, mirrors are a great way to make a room feel larger and brighter.

Take a peek at the series of mirrors that we hung above the buffet in this Beach Chic dining room.

Just to show you how big of a difference these changes made take a look at these before and after pictures.

I'd say we accomplished the goal. This room feels lighter, brighter and more alive. In decorating this room it's all the little details that changed the space. In this case we found this series of mirrors for only $30 each on clearance at Ikea!

What do you think of the progress in the dining room? Do you like mirrors above the buffet or do you prefer art?

Either way, one thing is for certain in this dining room, it's ready for a party. Bon Appetit!
